Malaria Work Package
The Malaria work package is co-ordinated by Dr Nobert Peshu based at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research programme in Kilifi, Kenya
The Work Package’s ultimate goals are to integrate and synergise efforts to:
- Strengthen research capacity
- Network amongst partners and improve south-to-south and north-to-south collaborations
- Facilitate EDCTP’s vision of accelerating development of new drugs and tools to control Malaria
- Provide development support to junior trial sites within the East African region
Ultimately, the EACCR aims are to create an enabling environment within the region for the design, conduct, and evaluate large, multi-centre clinical trials under best international practices in East Africa.
The malaria work package is run by a management committee composed of five members, each representing a country within the network region. The management committee has a face-to-face meeting once a year and quarterly or ad hoc via teleconferences.
