Summary of the currently running Grants and Projects at EACCR

EACCR3

The Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR3) aims to strengthen and sustain an existing long term and highly successful collaboration aiming to continue to build capacity among junior SSA researchers; and to create productive South-South and South-North research networks to deliver high quality and high impact ICH-GCP research in the area of PRDs.

CAFÉ-SEA

The Capacity building for Female Scientists in East Africa (CAFÉ-SEA) is a project funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) (PSIA2020-3073) using UK Aid from the UK government to support global health research, as part of the EDCTP2 programme supported by the European Union and coordinated under the Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR), which is an EDCTP-funded network of excellence.

IDEA

The overarching objective of the IDEA Fellowship programme is to train the next generation of infectious disease field epidemiologists in conducting disease surveillance, outbreak investigations and timely response, and translating data into evidence-based practice in Uganda. 

EXIT-TB

The project is funded by European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnerships (EDCTP)  to accelerate the translation of research into policy and practice through implementation of the Evidence-Based Multiple Focus Integrated Intensified TB Screening Package (EXIT-TB) in the East African region. It also seeks to improve early identification and management of TB in region.

AccessAFRICA

Access Africa, an EDCTP2 funded research project, that aims to improve post-trial access arrangements in clinical trials in sub-Saharan Africa. Focus is on improving review and regulation of post trial access of investigation drugs. 

EAPOC-VL

The European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) awarded a grant (project) to the Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Trials (EACCR2) titled “Use of Point of Care HIV Viral Load Monitoring to improve Viral Load Suppression among Children and Adolescents Living with HIV in East Africa (EAPOC-VL).

PANDORA

The Pan-African Network For Rapid Research, Response, Relief and Preparedness for Infectious Disease Epidemics (PANDORA-ID-NET) is a €10 million grant funded by the European and Developing Countries Clinical trials Partnership (EDCTP).

PANDORA-ID-NET is a novel multidisciplinary ‘One Health’ initiative that supports broad themes addressing response to emerging infections in Africa and supporting this through capacity development and training. 

ALERRT

The African coaLition for Epidemic Research, Response and Training (ALERRT) is a multi-disciplinary consortium building a patient-centered clinical research network to respond to epidemics across sub-Saharan Africa.ALERRT aims to reduce the public health and socio-economic impact of disease outbreaks in sub-Saharan Africa by building a sustainable clinical and laboratory research preparedness and response network.
