Scientists Participate in Training on COVID-19 and Infectious Disease Surveillance
The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in collaboration with the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) organized a course on COVID-19 and infectious disease surveillance from July 29th to August 2nd, 2024.
The training was conducted at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) Muhimbili in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This comprehensive course provided an in-depth understanding of the principles and practices of infectious disease surveillance, with a special emphasis on COVID-19. Participants came from: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
The course was structured to cover a wide range of topics over five days, focusing on the following key areas:
- Introduction to Infectious Disease Surveillance
- COVID-19 Surveillance
- Data Management and Analysis
- Communicating Surveillance Findings
- Special Topics and Course Wrap-Up
- Each section was designed to build on the previous day's learning, ensuring a logical progression from basic concepts to advanced applications.
