World Aids Day Update by MOH, Uganda (December, 01, 2020)

Today is World AIDS Day held under the local theme “National solidarity and a shared responsibility towards ending AIDS” Our solidarity has enabled us achieve significantly in the fight against HIV such as:
?Decline in new HIV infections from 100,000 in 2015 to 53,413 in 2019
?AIDS related deaths stood at 21,000 in 2019 compared to 65,000 in 2015
? HIV Testing for Pregnant mothers stands at 96%
? Enrollment of HIV+ pregnant women stands at 95%
?Since 2011, a total of 5.9 million men have been circumcised. Safe Male Circumcision is one of the preventive measures to reduce the risk of HIV infection.
World AIDS Day offers us an opportunity to reflect on the achievements made and challenges faced in the implementation of the HIV response.
