Celebration of World Aids Day at KEMRI/CGHR

World AIDS Day, observed on December 1st every year, is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV, and commemorate those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses. KEMRI/CGHR has been participating in the event ever since its inception, and some of the activities commonly done are:

Awareness Campaigns: Various organizations, government agencies, and NGOs conduct awareness campaigns to educate people about HIV/AIDS, its prevention, treatment, and the importance of getting tested.

Testing Events: Many healthcare facilities, community centers, and mobile testing units offer free or low-cost HIV testing services to encourage people to know their HIV status.

Community Events: Communities organize events such as marches, rallies, candlelight vigils, and remembrance ceremonies to honor those who have lost their lives to AIDS and to show solidarity with people living with HIV.

Fundraising Activities: Various fundraising events such as charity walks, runs, auctions and benefit concerts are organized to raise funds for HIV/AIDS research, prevention programs, and support services for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Social Media Campaigns: Social media platforms are used to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, share personal stories, and encourage discussions on topics related to stigma, discrimination, and access to healthcare services.

Art and Cultural Events: Art exhibitions, theater performances, film screenings, and other cultural events are organized to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and its impact on individuals and communities.
