COVID-19 Uganda Update 23-94-20
Two (2) new cases were confirmed for COVID-19 out of the 1,019 samples tested at UVRI. The confirmed new cases are of a 35-year-old Tanzanian truck driver who arrived from Tanzania at Mutukula border and a 43-year-old Tanzanian truck driver who is a contact to a previously confirmed case. Total number of confirmed cases of covid-19 stands at 63 in Uganda.
The International Health Regulations (IHR) requires that every case that is tested and confirmed for a particular disease should be registered as the host country’s case. Therefore, Uganda will capture all COVID-19 foreigners including truck drivers as her confirmed cases, bringing the total to 61 cases for Uganda.
7 more patients were discharged; 3 from Mulago National Specialised Hospital and 4 from Entebbe Grade B Hospital. Each tested negative twice for covid-19 at intervals of 24hours. This brings the total of discharged patients (recoveries)to 45 in Uganda out of the 63 confirmed cases. That means that there are a total of 18 (Eighteen) Covid-19 patients still in hospital as of today.
