COVID-19 Uganda Update 23-04-2020
Eleven (11) new cases were confirmed for COVID-19 in Uganda out of the 1,331 samples tested at the Uganda Virus Research Institute today. The confirmed new COVID-19 cases were 6 Tanzanian truck drivers who arrived via Mutukula border and 5 Kenyan truck drivers; 3 arrived via Malaba and 2 arrived via Busia. Total number of confirmed cases of covid-19 stands at 74 in Uganda. Of the 1,331 samples tested, 1,020 samples are from truck drivers while all 311 samples are from community and individuals in quarantine.
The International Health Regulations (IHR) requires that every case that is tested and confirmed for a particular disease should be registered as the host country’s case. Therefore, Uganda will capture all COVID-19 foreigners including truck drivers as her confirmed cases, bringing the total to 74 cases for Uganda. The total number of covid-19 recoveries in Uganda is at 46 while those still suffering from covid-19 are 28.
Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you.
