This training is designed by a team from the University of Rwanda and KEMRI to equip trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary for future roles as investigators who will be involved in the designing/conduct of research involving human subjects and understanding their obligation to protect the right and welfare of research subjects.

This course will cover the basic concepts of ethics, ethical principles, and ethical issues related to the protection of research participants. The course will discuss in depth the principles of ethics in research, the development of contemporary research ethics, and give an overview of the responsibilities of ethics committees and of researchers when conducting research.

The presentations will be complemented by practical sessions devoted to case studies, exercises, or critiques of current examples of research studies.
